Field trips in Work Package 5
Work Package 5 of the EU-funded project FLASH primarily deals with patient mobility within multi-level systems, e.g. between European member states. The respective partners within the project will pay particular focus to the barriers of cross-border care delivery, out of which financing plays an important role, and how to overcome these.
We are very grateful that we were able to visit the best practice of cross-border care delivery at the Lower Austrian – Czech border earlier this week. The project HEALTHCROSS showed very impressively the potential of coordination across borders and their stamina to work on behalf of the local population to improve their accessibility to health facilities (out-and inpatient care alike). We extend our gratitude to our colleagues at HEALTHCROSS for their time, expertise and inputs during a workshop on 04./05. September in Gmünd, Lower Austria, on the genesis, development and experience of their projects. From the FLASH project the following partners participated in the field trip:
Univerzita Karlova (Czechia)
The Health Insurance Bureau (Czechia)
Management Center Innsbruck (Austria)
Also, we were able to visit and share experiences with the Competence and Coordination Centre of cross-border emergency care between Germany and Czechia in mid-September. The Centre is dedicated to a close-knit coordination of emergency teams on both sides of the border, e.g. by applying a real-time software to locate teams and coordinate fast and smooth emergency care for the local population. We extend our gratitude to our colleagues at the Centre for their time, expertise and inputs during a workshop on 10-11 September in Furth im Wald, Germany, on current challenges in emergency care services across borders. Colleagues from the Univerzita Karlova and the MCI | The Entrepreneurial School® were able to participate in the second field trip.
