FLASH project field trip
📢 We are happy to share some news from the FLASH project 📢
On May 8th, 2026, researchers of Work Package 5 visited local stakeholders to cross-border care provision of inpatient services along the Czech-German border. The hospital Oberlausitz-Bergland qualifies with even two local hospital sides for a direct provision of acute-care to Czech patients (Zittau and Ebersbach). The three researchers from the team — Spranger, Jana Votápková and Anna Řeháková— met with the administrative leadership of the hospital and presented the overall legal situation and project outputs of WP 5 and results for price comparison of hospitalizations from MDC 14.
The Project Deliverable Policy report proposing a new system for patients’ mobility across Europe was presented to the hospital leadership to discuss possible next steps for a contracted acute-care service provision to Czech patients and their overall capacities. A bandwidth of price differences was introduced to give the hospital a clearer view for price-negotiations with Czech HIFs. The hospital expressed their interest to cooperate with the #FLASH team on price comparison of additional MDCs.
